Virtual Reality Qualification and Training for Technical Specialists
The operation and maintenance of complex machinery and plants not only requires specialized technical knowledge but, in particular, also knowledge of the working processes and sure mastery of the most important routines that control them.
In terms of informal learning, the action skills specialists need also include empirical knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair drawn from real working processes.
Intense utilization and the risk of operating errors and attendant dangers impede the use of state-of-the-art machinery in qualification measures.
The virtual interactive educational modules developed at the Fraunhofer IFF VDTC combine real machine or plant operator elements with their virtual representations, thus making it possible to complete realistic tasks without tying up productive machinery and plants.
Innovative teaching and learning concepts enable technical specialists to explore technical details and operations, practice operating and maintenance procedures and deal with critical machine states on simulated machinery anywhere and anytime.
Benefits for Companies and Their Employees:
- Time and money are saved,
- Prior qualification shortens employee orientation when new equipment is implemented or technical modifications have been made and
- Realistic depictions of machinery and plants transfer knowledge better.
