2007 Events
Electron Beam Welding Innovation Forum
The two-day professional event will be held in Burg’s Stadthalle on March 7 and 8, 2007. Along with plenary lectures, technology providers, users and institutions of research and education will deliver presentations in five thematic blocks: Electron Beam Processes and Systems, Drive Engineering, Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Training.
Innovations decisively influence the improvement of regional economic and employment development. Since innovations don’t develop on their own, the Technologie- und Gründerzentrum Jerichower Land GmbH in close collaboration with pro-beam AG & Co. KGaA and PRÄMAB GmbH & Co. KG in Burg, Otto von Guericke University, the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF in Magdeburg, FASA e. V. and SLV Halle GmbH and with active support from tti Magdeburg GmbH applied for and was selected by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. The innovation forum is intended to bring together the actors throughout the value added chain for new products during the manufacture of which various electron beam technology applications can be efficient used. The uniqueness of the large chamber electron beam welding system at pro-beam AG & Co. KGaA in Burg industrial park in conjunction with the efficient machinery manufacturers located right in the area will draw attention to the region’s superior innovation potential and carry it far beyond the region.

A tour of machinery and process equipment manufacturing companies in Burg and a presentation at the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF Magdeburg’s newly Virtual Development and Training Centre (VDTC) has been organized for attendees at the end of the first day.

“The forum will be an important building block to boost technology and orient the region in the future,” according to Dr. Heinz Paul from TGZ Jerichower Land. A technology and cooperation exchange as well as an exhibition on the region will accompany this event.

The forum is also directed toward groups interested in examining the potential applications fro their manufacturing processes. Attendees will also learn that applying this technology makes new innovative solutions possible, particularly when new materials are being used. Naturally future requirements for the training of skilled labor will also be dealt with.
