The start of the new school year signaled the start of the forty-fifth round of the junior science and engineering competition started. Research fever has broken out again in schools, vocational institutions and universities. The three regional Jugend forscht competitions at which young researchers can qualify for the state final are being held in Saxony-Anhalt in February and March.
E.ON Avacon has been supporting this competition for years. After sponsoring one of the regional competitions in Saxony-Anhalt for ten years, E.ON Avacon AG sponsored the state competition for the first time in 2008.
This year’s state finals will be held at the Fraunhofer IFF VDTC des in Magdeburg on March 24 - 25, 2010. All the young researchers who have won their regional competition will present their work in seven disciplines (working world, biology, chemistry, geospatial sciences, mathematics, physics and engineering) to a jury and the public.
The highlight of every round of the competition is the national finals. This year, they are being hosted jointly by the Jugend forscht Foundation and ThyssenKrupp AG in Essen on May 13 - 16, 2010.
